what we believe

It all begins with God. His name is Jesus and He created us to live in friendship with Him. Everything was created by Him and for Him and nothing exists apart from Him. He alone rules over the universe.

God formed Adam and Eve and placed them in the Garden of Eden where they enjoyed a love relationship with Him and each other, but God also gave them the ability to choose. They could choose whether or not to love and obey God.

Satan, an angel who rebelled against God's authority, deceived Adam and Eve into disobeying God. Disobeying God, introduced sin into the universe. The perfect love relationship between God and human beings was broken. Spiritual and eventual physical death was the result. As a consequence, every human being is born spiritually dead, separated from God.

Because God is perfectly good, He cannot allow sin in His presence. In addition, sin must be punished because it violates God's perfect will and character. Therefore, man's destiny became eternal punishment and separation from God.

God Himself provided a solution. Rather than punish those He loved, God took the form of a man, Jesus, and took our punishment upon Himself. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, then died on the cross in our place. The punishment we earned was put on Him.

We receive God's forgiveness as a free gift by placing our faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross. No amount of good works or religion can make us acceptable to God or can earn His forgiveness. The Bible calls this "grace."

When we place our faith in Christ, we experience a spiritual birth. The Bible says we are made a new person. Our sin is forever forgiven and we are promised an eternity with God in heaven where we will enjoy the love relationship with us He always intended.

While we still live on this earth, God is at work in us conforming us to the image of Jesus. He has given us the church to help us know Him better, worship Him and live together in community with others who know and love God. He has also given us the mission of telling others about the free gift of forgiveness He offers to everyone.

We hope you will join with us in our spiritual journey to know and love God and make Him known in Fayetteville.
